Gallery : > GENDER/POWER

Gender/Power is a collaborative working methodology lead by Maya Ciarrocchi and Kris Grey. Under the banner of Gender/Power the artists produce performances, installations, workshops, and writing. The content of the work is generated collaboratively with individuals who present personal narratives in combination with movement and gestural sequences that revolve around perceptions of their bodies at the intersections of race, class, age, ability, sex and sexuality. Rather than producing a fixed narrative, the work explores how gender presentation affects everyone regardless of their identity.

In 2016 Gender/Power received grants from the MAP Fund and the Franklin Furnace Fund to create Gender/Power Composition IV. They completed a Process Space residency from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in December 2015.

Gender/Power was a Fall 2015 BAC Space Resident at the Baryshnikov Arts Center and has presented live performances at Gibney Dance in the Agnes Varis Performance Lab, JACK Brooklyn, Smack Mellon, and the University of Utah.
